A message from our Director:
Hello everyone! I’m so excited and inspired by everything going on at Trail Mix this fall. We are working hard to transform our annual auction into an online event, collaborating with our partners to create an area-wide Trails Plan, and our trail crews and volunteers are still working hard in the ice and mud, making this one of our longest and most productive seasons ever. I know that many of the events and autumn community traditions that we look forward to are being missed this year; Public Market, Ski Swap, and Trail Mix’s Annual Dinner and Auction to name a few.
While these events are taking a hiatus, I’ve realized that the spirit of supporting our shared and treasured community resources is what makes these events feel so special and that despite the ongoing pandemic that spirit is still very much alive this year. I’m thrilled that in our virtual adaptation of our auction fundraiser we can still feature some of our classic auction items. We love being able to showcase local businesses, artists, and creators at our auction. I hope that you are able to join us as we continue this longstanding tradition. You can contribute your hobby, craft, and skills to the auction AND register to bid in the auction by visiting www.trailmixinc.org.
Our annual fundraiser is crucial to continued operations at Trail Mix. Your contribution allows us not only to build our trail system but also to look forward to plan improvements for all user groups in Juneau. We’ve been working with our agency partners, CBJ, DNR, and USFS to meet with user groups and consolidate our collective trail priorities into a strategic Juneau Area Trails Plan. This plan will outline cross-agency recreation goals for the next 10 to 20 years. We wouldn’t be able to put together this kind of plan without the deep support from our membership.
I am grateful and encouraged to live in a community with such a rich appreciation for trails! I’m also eternally grateful to the field crews who are working day in and day out to build and maintain Juneau’s trails. We are lucky to have one of the toughest, hardworking, most fun having teams we’ve ever had. Thank you all.
